Centennial Golf Course has been serving Treasure Valley golfers for over 30 years. In the mid 1980's a group of passionate community leaders and citizens led a grassroots campaign to fund and build Nampa's first golf course. Completed in 1987 Centennial Golf Course quickly became and remains a Valley favorite. Known for its large contoured fairways and putting surfaces, Centennial was designed to accommodate a broad range of golf abilities. Centennial also offers some of the most affordable golf rates in the Valley!!!

Meeting called to order at 9:02 AM by Commission Chairman Todd Durbin.
Minutes: A motion was made by Jim Kile, seconded by Fred Sutton and approved by all the members present to accept the minutes of 8/19/25.
Financial Reports: Hadley Haskell reported for Centennial that August was very busy, and revenue was up from August last year. Scott Nicholes reported the same for Ridgecrest. Jennifer Ayala-Vanderpool reported that expenses for both courses were normal for the period. She also noted that the last payment on the water well project at Ridgecrest was paid this month so it will appear as a capital expense on the September report.
Operations/Course Conditions, Public Relations and Golf Manager Reports: Steve Wilson read Brandon Crim’s operations report for Centennial. They are spiking greens and applying fungicide today. Additional fungicide spraying is needed to deal with moss and fungus that came back when the pump was out last month. They are on a normal mowing schedule, and he is still trying to hire additional fall help. They repainted the posts on the bridge on #4. They are overseeding tees and collars, fertilizing tees, trimming and planting trees and doing fall tournament prep. Greens will be top-dressed and verticut next week. Neal Murphy reported that the course looks and plays well and greens under repair are well marked. He noted that the teeing area on the driving range is in bad shape. Hadley Haskell noted that the high schools have begun fall practices and matches which is taking a toll on the range. Jim Kile asked if the mats could be utilized and Tony Blasius indicated they’d like to wait until November for that. Neal noted his request for a cost breakdown on the over 60 and military discounts. That will be discussed later in the proposed fees. Neal also asked about a possible mission statement for the courses. Tony Blasisu noted that could be considered. Josh Davidson reported for Ridgecrest that they are on a regular mowing schedule, identifying and fixing irrigation problems, and punching tees this week. Greens were punched last month and were top-dressed last week. They are spraying fungicide on greens every two weeks and spraying weeds all over the course. They are beginning prep work for the renovation of #17 green that will improve playability. The water well project is complete. Bob Nash reported that greens have fully recovered from aeration and are smooth and consistent. Sand traps are groomed well and playing fairly and the rough is fair and consistent. He’s hearing lots of positive comments on the condition of the course.
Public Relations Reports: Jim Kile reported for Centennial that an IGA E-Club event was held on 8/22 with 30 players. Aerification took place 8/26-27. A Micron SIG event was held on 9/5 with 70 players. The CMGA 2-Man Best-Ball was held on 9/13 with 68 Players. The Nampa High School Invitational was held on 9/15 with 11 teams and about 100 players. June York reported for Ridgecrest that Ridgevue High School hosted a match on 8/21 with 75 players. A ladies Sip-N’ Chip clinic was held on 8/22. A Centennial High School/Boise High School match was held on the Wee Nine on 8/25 because all the courses they normally play on were booked. A Nampa Realtors tournament was held on 9/9. A Chrysalis tournament was held on 9/12.
Golf Manager Report: Tony Blasius reported that August revenue was strong, but probably less than it could have been due to aeration. All FY 25 numbers are up over last year, with still a month to go in the fiscal year. Rounds are up 6%-7%. Last night the city council approved Parks and Recreation going out to bid for the irrigation project at Centennial. Cody Swander indicated that they are aiming for a bid opening on November 3rd. The water wall project at Ridgecrest is completed, and the last of the old, 3-wheeled carts at Centennial has been sold. A motion was made by Bob Nash, seconded by Neal Murphy and approved by all the members present to approve the Operations Course Conditions/Public Relations and Golf Manager reports.
Old Business
- There was no old business this month.
New Business
- An application for a Pepsi Fund youth golf scholarship was received but withdrawn by the applicant.
- FY 2026 Golf Fees
- Tomy Blasius distributed the latest draft of the fee proposal from staff. Numerous questions were asked by Golf Commissioners and answered by staff. Neal Murphy asked about extending senior/military discounts to holidays and weekends. Lengthy discussion followed but with no agreement. Since fees can be reduced at any time without city council’s approval, it was decided to table that discussion until a later date. An error was noted by Jim Kile on the proposed fee increase on group rates at Centennial and corrected by staff. After more discussion, June York made a motion seconded by Fred Sutton to accept the staff recommendation as corrected for recommendation to the city council. Jim Kile made a motion to consider and vote on greens fees separately from the other fees. That motion died for lack of a second. The original motion was voted on as follows: June York-yes, Fred Sutton-yes, Jim Kile-no, Steve Wilson-yes, Neal Murphy-yes, Bob Nash-yes, Todd Durbin-yes. The motion passed 6-1.
Adjournment: A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn the meeting at 10:35 AM.
Next Meeting: The next meeting of the Nampa Golf Commission is scheduled for 9:00 AM, October 21st at the Harward Recreation Center. Attendance can be in person or remote.
Respectfully submitted by Steve Wilson, Golf Commission Secretary.
